Iceburgs Over North Pole

These pictures were clicked while blogger was flying somewhere over the North Pole of Earth. Beneath the layer of clouds, you can see blue patches of the ocean and white patches of ice burgs floating around.

Glory

Here is a picture of the optical phenomenon called Glory, which most of us have seen but may not have noticed. The picture was taken from a flight while the blogger was flying from Dubai to Los Angeles, and he got the picture from somewhere over the North Pole of Earth. Wkipedia gives the following definition for Glory - “A glory is an optical phenomenon, appearing much like an iconic Saint's halo about the head of the observer, produced by light backscattered (a combination of diffraction, reflection and refraction) towards its source by a cloud of uniformly-sized water droplets.” You can read more about Glory in the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glory_(optical_phenomenon)

The Rain Cloud

The rain clouds popping above the mountain ridge over Pasadena on the summer afternoon was a beautiful scene. These mountains are said to be formed by plate tectonics. The sky turned dramatically red and yellow after the rain by that evening. Unfortunately, the blogger could not capture those images.

Mountain Ridge Over North Pole

Blogger caught this picture Icy Mountain Ridge while flying somewhere over North Pole of earth. The flight from Dubai to Los Angeles took a route over the North Pole. The shadow that you see on the right side is that of the flight window blocking the view.
